7 Corners

When it comes to unreleased Foo Fighters song titles, '7 Corners' is right up there with the most well-known among fans. It has been mentioned in passing by the band on a number of occasions over their career and has been seen on many a whiteboard when it came time for recording.

The title comes from Seven Corners, an area of Fairfax County in Virginia where Dave lived for many years.

In one interview Dave Grohl mentioned that they had recorded the song, either in full or partially, at a recording session for every single studio album since 'The Colour And The Shape' but whilst it was, he believed a "great riff" they could never turn it into a "great song".

In 2015 the band decided to make an impromptu recording session at a hotel in Austin, Texas with the main MO being to go back to older unfinished songs and try to finally complete them. It was therefore no surprise that '7 Corners' was one of the tracks on the board yet again but what was surprising was that after almost 20 years and countless attempts, the track was finally released. Only, it wasn't '7 Corners'. Owing to the longevity of the track Dave Grohl penned some apt lyrics, re-titling the track 'The Neverending Sigh'.

So whilst the track in it's final form has now seen release under another title, the original '7 Corners' and all of it's earlier recorded versions technically remain unreleased. It isn't known if the song ever had lyrics for any earlier incarnation, or to what degree the song was ever completed.
