Spring of 1999 saw Foo Fighters begin the creative process on their third studio album. Keen to avoid any repeats of the issues that arose during recording of their previous album the band took a completely different approach - avoiding expensive professional recording studios, hiring a more laid-back producer, and working at their own pace in peace and tranquillity.
