As part of pre-release promotion for Wasting Light Foo Fighters launched the 'This Video Sucks' contest for fans and budding filmmakers. The contest invited people to make their own videos for the new songs, with the selected winners’ videos being uploaded to the band’s official YouTube channel (and often mistaken as being official). Several skits were made to promote the contest, each ending with Dave looking at the camera and saying, "This video sucks. You could do way better. Here’s how."
