The protocol at the time of Foo Fighters first appearance on Top of The Pops was that all of the music and instruments would be pre-recorded and mimed whilst Dave sang live vocals.

Dave wore unconventional contact lenses for the performance which gave the appearance of large black pupils and almost white Iris'.
