The band were at the Ed Sullivan Theater for four consecutive days as the musical performers on The Late Show, performing covers of songs that influenced them in recording 'Sonic Highways'.

This was the first day and the band were joined by Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band for a cover of the Black Sabbath song 'War Pigs'.

The performance was recorded in the afternoon and broadcast later in the evening.

Grohl also joined Letterman for a short interview.
