The band were inside a large tent outside of the Staples Center for their performances. Before performing 'Walk' as part of the TV broadcast they performed the Wings cover 'Jet' for the crowd.

Later in the night they were due to perform 'Rope' with DeadMau5 but whilst they were waiting to go live to TV they performed several songs behind a curtain including Van Halen and Tom Petty covers. They were told to stop midway through 'Times Like These' as it was nearly time to go live however they still continued to jam on a few song before finally going live and playing 'Rope'.
