The circumstances surrounding this appearance are somewhat mysterious. By February 1997, whilst recording in the United States for their second album, drummer William Goldsmith had left the band. This would ordinarily lead to cancellations of all band performances until a replacement is hired but instead Dave and Nate headed to Japan in early April for this session.

During the performance of the first song, 'For All The Cows', Dave even exclaims "I wish we had a drummer". Replacement Taylor Hawkins would perform with the band just over a fortnight later at a live show in California.

The other songs performed by the pair were 'Big Me' and 'Up In Arms', with all three being played acoustically. The tracks were broadcast on Japanese radio although two were incomplete and there was chatter over the top of the third,'Up In Arms'. Clips were also shown on MTV Japan.
