Bio
Alanis Morissette is a Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter known for taking the world by storm with her 1995 breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill.
In support of the release of the album Taylor Hawkins and Chris Chaney were hired as part of her touring band, beginning in June 1995 and running through to late 1996. It was through this role that Taylor Hawkins first met members of Foo Fighters when both artists were on the line-up for KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas event in December 1995. They would share the stage again in July 1996 in France and on that occasion Dave and Pat joined Alanis, Taylor and the rest of her band on stage at the end of her set for a performance of The Beatles' 'Ob La Di, Ob La Da'.
Hawkins continued to tour with Morissette until Dave Grohl called him to ask for recommendations on a drummer following the departure of William Goldsmith. Hawkins famous volunteered himself for the role and became the next drummer of Foo Fighters in March 1997, Alanis giving her blessing for him to move on.
Morissette and Hawkins remained on good terms in the years following and she was one of many guest musicians at the Los Angeles stop of the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in 2022.
