Chris Shiflett

Bio

Chris Shiflett is the lead guitarist of Foo Fighters, recruited in 1999 following open auditions to replace Franz Stahl. Stepping in right at the tail end of sessions for There Is Nothing Left To Lose, Chris cut his teeth on the ins and outs of the band by hitting the road, before making his studio debut on 2002’s One By One. As part of the three-guitar contingent of the band, his complementary punk-rock roots and musical fluidity creates counter-melodies and critical balances - his work shining on standout tracks like ‘No Way Back’ and the searing solo in ‘Something From Nothing’.

Outside of his main gig, Chris is a punk veteran, known for his previous tenures with No Use for a Name and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, as well as fronting punk-rock group Jackson United. His next frontman project, Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants, was his major foray into the alt-country and Americana scenes, followed by several solo albums including Lost At Sea and Hard Lessons. His breadth of knowledge and curiosity are shown in two podcasts led by Chris, Walking The Floor as well the guitar-centric Shred with Shifty.
