Josh Homme is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of desert rockers Queens Of The Stone Age. He first crossed paths with Dave Grohl when he was still performing with earlier band Kyuss, Dave in attendance at a show in Seattle in 1992. The two soon became friends and in the years since have collaborated on numerous occasions.
Queens were the opening band for Foo Fighters in late 2000 and having always admired the band got his chance to get involved in late 2001. Recording for Foo Fighters album 'One By One' was hitting issues and Queens drummer Gene Trautmann was looking to move on and so Dave took the opportunity and headed off to record drum tracks for their album 'Songs For The Deaf'. After returning to complete the Foo Fighters album he then headed out on tour with Queens, playing over two dozen shows in the summer of 2002.
In 2004 Foo Fighters were recording their fifth studio album 'In Your Honor', a half-rock, half-acoustic double album. In a late night visit Dave invited Josh to record guitar on the track 'Razor'.
In 2007 Foo Fighters were booked as musical guests at the annual MTV Video Music Awards, hosted in Las Vegas. Rather than performing as normal, on a large stage, the band were instead crammed into a suite at the Palms Casino Resort in the City. They invited a number of artists to guest with them including Josh, who along with other members of the band performed the Queens of The Stone Age track 'Make It Wit Chu'.
In 2009 the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures unveiled themselves as Josh, Dave and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, having recorded an album in secret. The album was released in November 2009 and the band went out on tour through to summer 2010.
Josh was present at both Taylor Hawkins Tribute Shows in 2022, reuniting Them Crooked Vultures and also singing vocals on a cover of the David Bowie track 'Let's Dance' with Niles Rogers.
