Benmont is a founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. In 1998 Foo Fighters were paid to produce a song for the soundtrack to Godzilla (1998). The track selected, 'A320', was to feature an extended orchestral section and Benmont was invited to contribute, playing a Hammond B3 Organ as well as the Chamberlain, an electric-mechanical keyboard capable of emulating various musical instruments and outputting special effects.
