Krist Novoselic is best known as bassist for grunge pioneers Nirvana alongside frontman Kurt Cobain and (among others) drummer, Dave Grohl.
In the last few months of Nirvana, before Cobain's untimely passing, Krist would regularly aid Dave on recording his own material. Early demos of songs like 'February Stars', 'Exhausted' and 'Big Me' were recorded with Krist and when Dave was deciding what to do with his future he did consider at one point forming a new band with Krist. A demo of 'This Is a Call' recorded in 1994 had a bass track added by Krist but ultimately the pair decided against it, with Dave going on to hire Nate Mendel as Foo Fighters bassist and Krist going on to form several other bands including Sweet 75.
In 2010, during recording of Foo Fighters album 'Wasting Light', Krist was invited to the studio to record bass on the track 'I Should Have Known'. The track was primarily written by Dave about the passing of his best friend Jimmy Swanson but several lines also referenced others he had lost in the same way, including Kurt Cobain.
Krist has appeared as a guest at several Foo Fighters shows over the years. His first appearance came at the 1997 Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle where he, Dave and Pat Smear reunited on stage for the first time since the end of Nirvana, although on that occasion they did not play any Nirvana tracks.
In 2010 he was on the stage for a special performance of the pseudo Foo Fighters/Nirvana song 'Marigold'. Dave played drums and sang vocals with Krist and Pat whilst the lead microphone was left empty, a spotlight shining to highlight the missing Kurt Cobain.
In 2018, at another show in Seattle, Krist joined the band to play Bass on a cover of 'Molly's Lips', a song that Nirvana had regularly also covered.
Krist was also part of the supergroup dubbed "Sound City Players", playing bass on the Paul McCartney led track 'Cut Me Some Slack'.
