Axl Rose is the frontman of hard rock/metal band Guns ‘N’ Roses. During Dave Grohl's time in Nirvana the two bands famously did not get along, with several well-documented incidents including Dave sarcastically shouting "Hi Axl! Where's Axl?" during their performance at the 1992 Video Music Awards.
In later years as both bands matured these incidents were put behind them and the two bands have since collaborated several times. In 2016 Axl broke his foot and Dave kindly lent him his "throne", the custom stage piece he'd used during the 2015 Foo Fighters tour after breaking his own leg that summer.
During a show in Tulsa in 2017, Dave surprised the crowd by joining Guns 'N' Roses to play guitar on 'Paradise City' and the performance was repeated twice more - at Bottlerock in 2021, and at Glastonbury Festival in 2023.
In 2018 both bands were on the schedule for the Italian music festival Firenze Rocks and midway through Foo Fighters set all members of Guns were invited on stage and the collective bands played through 'It's So Easy', with Axl on lead vocals.
