Bio
Nate Mendel is Foo Fighters’ bassist, a founding member who has anchored the rhythm section since the band’s inception in 1994. Recruited alongside his Sunny Day Real Estate bandmate William Goldsmith, Mendel’s steady, melodic basslines have provided the backbone for every single Foo Fighters release. His ability to lock in seamlessly is showcased on tracks like ‘Monkey Wrench’ and the slick, fuzzy tone-setter of ‘La Dee Da’.
Outside of his foundational role with Foo Fighters, Mendel has periodically returned to Sunny Day Real Estate before forming the alt-rock group The Fire Theft. In 2015, he stepped into the spotlight as a frontman and songwriter for his own indie-rock side project, Lieutenant, releasing the album If I Kill This Thing, We’re All Going To Eat For A Week.
