After many years of rumours it was confirmed in April 2025 that storied entertainment show Saturday Night Live would be getting a UK edition. Executive produced by Lorne Michaels, also in charge of the US edition, the show debuted on March 21st, 2026 hosted by Tina Fey with musical guests Wet Leg.

The show follows the format of the US version pretty closely with a consistent "cast" of comedians featured each week in a number of sketches alongside guest hosts and a musical performer.

It was announced today (April 14) that Foo Fighters would be the fifth ever musical guest on the show, set to appear on the April 25th edition, hosted by popular Irish actor Nicola Coughlan. The band will also be the first overseas act to be featured following an initial quartet of home grown talent in the first four episodes - Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian and Jorja Smith.

As per the name and just like the US edition the show is recorded in front of a live studio audience and broadcast live, the set created in the BBC Studioworks complex for the broadcasts also a pretty close replica of the US original set in New York.

This will surely be the first of many promotional media appearances for the band in the next few weeks, coming the day after release of their twelfth studio album 'Your Favourite Toy'. For one, it almost seems like a given that they will make their 10th appearance on the US Edition of the show around the same time, having last appeared in October 2023 whilst promoting 'But Here We Are'.

The show airs live in the UK and Ireland on Sky One at 9pm on April 25th and will be available on a number of streaming platforms worldwide shortly after.
