FooFightersDB.com: Welcome to your new home for everything Foo Fighters

It's finally here! After several years of work on what began as a modest upgrade of our previous website Foo Fighters Live (FFL), we are today very happy to present to you our entirely new website, Foo Fighters DB (FFDB).

This new site represents a clear step forward over FFL with a completely new design, a backend written entirely from scratch and most importantly, a huge increase in data and information on Foo Fighters.

Of course you are free to look around right now and explore the site but we also want to highlight a few of the new features and upgrades FFDB brings right here.

Create an account - comment, download, add your shows

You can now create your own free account on the website which will allow you to do a number of things.

Firstly, you'll now need an account to download show recordings. This is unfortunately necessary in the current world of bots and scrapers, we want to make sure only genuine fans are downloading the recordings and nobody is scraping hundreds of them at once, keeping it fair for everyone.

Rest assured, we are not adding any other restrictions on downloads. Once registered and verified, you can download as many recordings as you want, at any time, with no captchas, waiting times, speed limits, bandwidth limits or any other similar restrictions.

In the future we will also add a feature allowing users to view what they've downloaded and when, to easily keep track.

With your free account you'll also be able to comment on just about anything across the website. Articles, shows, sessions, songs, you can add your thoughts to just about anything and engage with other fans.

Most excitingly, with your account you'll be able to head to the shows section, mark the shows you attended and then check out your account to see a whole host of statistics generated based on your selections. This is a work in progress feature, with more detailed stats and prettier graphics/results coming soon.

You're also able to save the infographic as an image which you can then share with your friends and other fans!

Searching & Filtering

A huge quality of life improvement and addition across the site, you can now use the global search bar in the header of the website to quickly find whatever you're looking for.

If you prefer to browse and discover directly via the pages of site, you can filter the results of all sections of the site to different levels. Whenever you see the filters bar, use the options to drill down to list exactly what you're looking for - you could find all shows in Australia, TV appearances in 1997, sessions by a certain artist, releases in different categories - the possibilities are endless, and with more coming soon. It's never been easier to find exactly what you're looking for, or to just filter different sections by your preferences.

Light & Dark Mode

The site features both a light and dark mode. By default the site should load in to match your system preferences but you can manually override this with a toggle in the footer on every page of the site.

Clearer Recording Listings

We want our site to be easy to navigate and understand for all fans, whether you're new or a hardcore collector that has been collecting recordings of the band for 25 years. We therefore understood that how we listed recordings on FooFightersLive was never super clear, with lots of acronyms and potentially confusing technical terms.

That's why we went right back to the drawing board and what we have devised is a system that is hopefully clear for everyone. When it comes to the live shows, recordings are first grouped by five clear headings -

• Audience Audio

• Soundboard Audio

• IEM/ALD Audio

• Amateur Video

• Professional Video

To long time collectors these terms should be recognisable, and for anyone who doesn't understand the distinctions, a helpful hint icon will explain exactly what each are.

Each individual recording in these groups now has a very clear, easy to understand heading which is either the source they came from, or the title of a release. Depending on the recording type, resolution, audio channels and taping equipment is then listed, followed by the length of the recording and any relevant credits.

That's only the first step however, as now every entry on the overview page can be selected to be taken to a dedicated page for the recording. Here you'll find all the same information from the overview, expanded even further, plus even more. A tracklist clarifies exactly which songs from the show are on the recording and for many recordings you will now be able to stream them directly. Watch and listen to hundreds of sources, with more planned to be added in the future.

These detailed pages are also where you'll find any show recording downloads, provided you are logged in and have verified your account as mentioned earlier.

Session Recordings

We've taken things even further when it comes to session recordings. Many of you were confused as to why every recording was listed with unclear technical terms, and that it was hard to understand why they had different numbers.

What we've elected to go with on FFDB is listing all of the known recordings by distinct, known mixes. Almost all session recordings before release will be mixed in some way, either from multitrack recordings down to a stereo track, or just tweaking an initial stereo recording.

Taking the In Your Honor recording session as an example, you'll no longer see a field of confusing 'Soundboard #1a, #1b, #1c and so on'. You'll first see a heading of each distinct mix, with each individual recording available from that mix listed below, with a very clear title.

You can see the "Primary Rock Mix" up first, with six different recordings which feature that mix, including catalog numbers. Select any of those recordings to see the full details, including tracks featured. For casual fans and collectors alike it's now easier than ever to see everything you need to acquire to hear everything available for a session.

The page continues with various other mixes, all clearly dated and described as to what makes them unique, and what recordings/releases feature tracks with that mix.

Videos

Videos are an entirely new section on FFDB, as we explore over 200 different non-live videos of the band including their famous music videos, documentaries, interviews, promos any many more. It goes without saying that over 31 years of the band they have been featured in countless videos and this section is therefore very much a work in progress - we will continue adding more and more videos over the coming months and years as we strive to build the ultimate Foo Fighters archive.

Most videos can be watched directly embedded on the website and again, we will continue making more and more of these available as time goes on.
